Hakkasan, Hanway Place, London (Soho)
Hus, my best friend and I dined at Hakkasan using the “Taste of Hakkasan” offer which is £35pp for a three course set menu and a cocktail. An offer like this is a great way of dining at a Michelin star restaurant, without the big price tag!
The Hakassan at Hanway Place is a cool little restaurant, with low lighting and low hanging lights over tables.
We were sat in the centre of the restaurant and first chose our complimentary cocktail, which was a little daunting given the large list! We then moved onto prosecco.
For our first course we had dim sum collection and crispy duck rolls. The dim sum dumplings were crammed full with tasty fillings (difficult to remember exactly what these were from the waiter though) but caution – extremely hot!
For mains we chose to share stir-fry black pepper rib eye beef with merlot, pipa duck, and stir-fry black pepper vegetarian chicken with sugar snap. We shared the mains, tapas style. All mains are served with seasonal vegetable and Jasmine rice.
This meal was finished off by a “selection of dessert”; we chose a selection of macaroons, vanilla panna cotta, and a chocolate bomb which was amazing! The macaroons were beautifully light and unusual flavours.
I would definitely go back to this restaurant again to enjoy exactly the same meal; the food was brilliant and the tasting menu is excellent value.
